The Water Intake Calculator estimates a sensible daily fluid target from your body weight and how much you exercise. It starts at about half an ounce of water per pound of body weight, then adds extra fluid to replace what you sweat out during workouts. Results are shown in ounces, 8-ounce cups, and liters so you can track them whichever way is easiest.

How it works
- Enter your body weight in pounds and pick the daily exercise level that best matches your routine.
- The base requirement is your weight multiplied by 0.5 ounces, which covers normal daily losses through breathing, sweat, and urine.
- An activity bonus of roughly 6 ounces per 30 minutes of exercise is added, then the total is converted into cups and liters.
Worked example
A 160 lb person who does 60 minutes of moderate exercise.
- Base = 160 × 0.5 = 80 oz.
- Activity bonus for moderate exercise = 12 oz.
- Total = 80 + 12 = 92 oz, which is about 11.5 cups or 2.72 liters.
About 92 oz of water per day (roughly 11.5 cups or 2.72 liters).

- Does coffee, tea, or food count toward the total?
- Most beverages and water-rich foods contribute to hydration. This calculator targets plain water, so if you drink other fluids you may comfortably hit the goal with less from a glass.
- Can I drink too much water?
- Yes. Drinking far more than your body needs in a short time can dilute blood sodium, a condition called hyponatremia. Spread intake through the day and do not force large volumes at once.
