This calculator takes any swim distance and finish time and returns your pace per 100 plus your average speed. Use it to set repeat targets for interval sets, compare a 1,500 m effort against a 100 m sprint, or convert between yard and meter pools when planning training.

How it works
- Pick whether your pool is measured in meters or yards, then enter the total distance you swam.
- Enter the finish time as mm:ss or hh:mm:ss; the calculator parses it into total seconds.
- It divides total time by the number of 100-unit segments to give pace per 100, and also reports average speed in units per hour.
Worked example
Swimming 1,500 meters in 25 minutes flat.
- Total time = 25:00 = 1,500 seconds.
- Segments = 1,500 ÷ 100 = 15 hundreds.
- Pace = 1,500 ÷ 15 = 100 seconds = 1:40 per 100 m.
A pace of 1:40 per 100 m, averaging 3,600 m/h.

- What is a good swimming pace per 100 meters?
- Recreational swimmers often hold around 2:00 to 2:30 per 100 m, fit triathletes near 1:30 to 1:45, and elite pool swimmers well under 1:10. Pace also depends heavily on the total distance being swum.
- How do meter and yard paces compare?
- A yard is shorter than a meter, so a given pace per 100 yards is slightly faster in absolute speed than the same number per 100 meters. Roughly, a 100 m time is about 9 to 10% slower than the equivalent 100 yd time.
- Can I enter times in hours for long open-water swims?
- Yes. Enter the time as hh:mm:ss and the calculator converts it to seconds before computing your pace per 100, so marathon swims work the same as a short pool set.
