The Crypto Profit Calculator works out exactly how much you made or lost on a cryptocurrency trade once trading fees are stripped out. Enter your buy price, sell price, the quantity of coins, and the total fees you paid across both transactions. It returns the net profit or loss, your return on investment, and the cash you put in versus what came back.
Formula
profit = (sellPrice − buyPrice) × quantity − fees; roi = profit / (buyPrice × quantity + fees) × 100
- buyPrice
- Price paid per coin
- sellPrice
- Price received per coin
- quantity
- Number of coins traded
- fees
- Total trading fees across buy and sell
How it works
- Enter the price you bought each coin at, the price you sold at, how many coins you traded, and the combined buy-and-sell fees.
- The calculator multiplies the price difference by your quantity, then subtracts fees to give the net profit or loss.
- ROI is the net profit divided by your total cost, including fees, expressed as a percentage; a negative figure indicates a losing trade.
Worked example
You buy 0.5 BTC at $20,000, sell at $30,000, and pay $100 in total fees.
- Gross gain = (30,000 − 20,000) × 0.5 = $5,000.
- Net profit = 5,000 − 100 = $4,900.
- Total cost = 20,000 × 0.5 + 100 = $10,100; ROI = 4,900 ÷ 10,100 ≈ 48.51%.
Net profit of $4,900 on a $10,100 cost, a 48.51% return.
Frequently asked questions
- How are trading fees handled?
- Enter the combined fees from both the buy and the sell. The calculator subtracts them from your gross gain and includes them in the cost base, so the ROI reflects your true out-of-pocket cost.
- Does this calculate crypto taxes?
- No. It shows your raw trading profit and ROI, not the tax owed. In many countries crypto gains are taxable as capital gains, which depends on your holding period and local rules.
- Can I use it for any coin or token?
- Yes. The math is identical for any asset, so it works for Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins, or tokens. Just enter prices and quantity in consistent units and the same currency.
