The Weight Calculator converts a quantity between common weight and mass units: pounds, kilograms, stone, ounces, grams, US (short) tons, and metric tonnes. It converts every value through a single kilogram base, so any pairing is accurate in both directions. Use it for body weight, shipping weights, recipe amounts, or any quick everyday weight conversion.

Formula

result = value × kg_from / kg_to

value
The amount you enter
kg_from
Kilograms in one of the source unit
kg_to
Kilograms in one of the target unit

How it works

  1. Enter a value, pick the unit it is in (the "from" unit), and pick the unit you want (the "to" unit).
  2. The value is multiplied by the from-unit’s kilogram factor to get kilograms, then divided by the to-unit’s kilogram factor to land in the target unit.
  3. Supported units and their kilogram factors include pound (0.453592), stone (6.35029), ounce (0.0283495), gram (0.001), US ton (907.185), and metric tonne (1000).

Worked examples

Convert 70 kilograms to pounds.

  1. Kilogram factor for kg is 1, so 70 kg stays 70 in the base.
  2. Divide by the pound factor: 70 ÷ 0.453592 ≈ 154.32 lb.

70 kg ≈ 154.32 pounds.

Convert 150 pounds to kilograms.

  1. Multiply by the pound factor: 150 × 0.453592 = 68.0388 kg.
  2. Kilogram is the base unit, so no further division is needed.

150 lb ≈ 68.04 kilograms.

Frequently asked questions

Which units can I convert between?
Pounds (lb), kilograms (kg), stone, ounces (oz), grams (g), US short tons, and metric tonnes. Any of these can convert to any other in either direction.
What is the difference between a US ton and a metric tonne?
A US (short) ton is 907.185 kg, while a metric tonne is exactly 1000 kg. The calculator treats them as separate units, so choose the correct one for your context.
Is weight the same as mass here?
For conversion purposes the calculator treats these units as measures of mass on Earth. The kilogram-based factors apply equally whether you call the quantity weight or mass under normal gravity.
How many pounds are in a stone?
One stone equals 14 pounds, or about 6.35029 kilograms. The stone unit is commonly used in the UK and Ireland to express body weight.
