Shoe Size Conversion

EU43.0
This shoe size converter translates a size between the US, UK, and EU sizing systems for both men and women. Because each region scales its sizes differently and men's and women's charts are offset, a single foot can carry three quite different numbers. Enter your size, pick the system it comes from and your gender, and the tool reports the equivalent US, UK, and EU sizes.
Formula
UK = US(men) − 1 ; EU = US(men) + 33 ; US(women) = US(men) + 1.5
- US(men)
- Men's US baseline derived from your input (UK + 1, EU − 33, or the entered US men size)
- UK
- UK size, one full size below the US men's size
- EU
- European (Paris point) size, US men + 33
- US(women)
- US women's size, 1.5 sizes above the men's baseline
How it works
- Enter the numeric shoe size you already know.
- Choose which system that number is from (US, UK, or EU) and select men or women so the calculator applies the correct offset.
- The tool first converts your input to a men's US baseline, then derives UK (one size below US men), EU (US men + 33), and the displayed US size, adding 1.5 for a women's reading.
Worked examples
A US men's size 10.
- Baseline US men = 10.
- UK = 10 − 1 = 9.
- EU = 10 + 33 = 43.
US 10, UK 9, EU 43.
A US women's size 8.
- Convert to men's baseline: 8 − 1.5 = 6.5.
- UK = 6.5 − 1 = 5.5.
- EU = 6.5 + 33 = 39.5; the US value is shown as the women's 8.
US 8 (women), UK 5.5, EU 39.5.
Frequently asked questions
- Why are US and UK shoe sizes different?
- The two systems use different starting points on the same length scale, so a US size runs roughly one full size above the equivalent UK size for men. This calculator applies that one-size offset automatically.
- How do EU sizes relate to US sizes?
- European sizes use the Paris-point scale, which numbers run much higher. As a working approximation this tool sets EU equal to the US men's size plus 33, which lands close to most brand charts.
- Why does gender change the result?
- Men's and women's charts are offset by about 1.5 sizes for the same foot length. Selecting women shifts the US reading accordingly so the converted UK and EU numbers reflect the right baseline.
- Will these conversions match every brand exactly?
- Not always. Conversions are approximate because brands and lasts vary, and half-size rounding differs. Use the result as a starting point and try the actual shoe whenever possible.
